Today’s stunning home in Merricks on the Mornington Peninsula is a much loved weekender for Melbourne-based designer Sarah Quinn, her husband and three children.
Sarah and John bought the property 4 years ago, and set about transforming it both inside and out. They mainly worked within the existing structure to create a beach house that is both stylish and relaxed. Sarah has her own homewares and furnishings label Canvas Home so it is the perfect place to display her favourite pieces and showcase new collections. Sarah loves travelling and sourcing beautiful things from India. With a background in Interior Design and Textiles she loves unique textiles, colour and pattern.
Sarah says the house and garden are a work in progress and they will evolve over time. Sarah and John love coming down on a Friday night, flinging all the doors and windows open and going for a walk in the garden with a glass of wine. They especially enjoy inviting friends down for weekends and having long lunches and not having to rush off anywhere. It also helps that their neighbour has a lovely vineyard and cellar door if they run out of wine!
